Since it first began, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has sparked outrage across the country and the globe, including right here in Louisiana. But for those Louisianans with close ties to Ukraine, the images of death and destruction are deeply personal.

Alex Orak, Tulane University medical student originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, and Eddy Hayes, Honorary Consul to Ukraine for the state, tell us about their efforts to support Ukrainians, both in Louisiana and abroad.

If you think you’ve been seeing more litter lately along Louisiana’s roads and highways, you’re right. That’s why the state is kicking off “Love the Boot Week,” an effort to mobilize residents in a mass cleanup. Susan Russell, director of the organization Keep Louisiana Beautiful, tells us more about the state’s litter problem and how to address it.
