A look at the medical marijuana bills proposed during Louisiana's 2022 legislative session

Today on Louisiana Considered, we hear an update on medical marijuana legislation at the state house. Then, in honor of World Book Day, we look back at the history of public libraries in New Orleans.

Medical marijuana legislation has been active this legislative session in Baton Rouge with 11 bills working through committees right now. But medical marijuana programs have previously struggled with successful rollouts in Louisiana. The Advocate’s Sam Karlin joins us to discuss the state’s prior programs and the status of the latest proposals.

Next Saturday, April 23, is World Book Day. Celebrated on the anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, the day is meant to promote the enjoyment of books and reading across the globe.

In honor of the day, we look back on a conversation about the history of public libraries in New Orleans. Louisiana Considered Managing Producer Alana Schreiber spoke with the director of City Archives and Special Collections at New Orleans Public Library, Christina Bryant, and author, educator and librarian Dr. Elaine Parker Adams.

Today’s episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Karl Lengel. Our managing producer is Alana Schreiber and our digital editor is Katelyn Umholtz. Our engineers are Garrett Pittman, Aubrey Procell, and Thomas Walsh.
