Bomb Threat Targets Baton Rouge Airport

Law enforcement officials were again investigating a bomb threat in Baton Rouge Thursday -- this time at the Metro Airport.

The airport received a call around 4:30 p.m. from someone indicating there was a bomb at the facility. The terminal and garage were quickly evacuated. Numerous flights in and out of Baton Rouge were delayed or cancelled. The all clear came about three hours later. No explosives were found.

It was just Monday that another false bomb threat prompted the evacuation of LSU. A suspect in that case was indicted Thursday and is not thought to be involved in the threat at the airport.

But East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says more copy cats could follow.

"I fully expect us to have more bomb scares in this parish -- not only in this parish, but across the state and across the nation, for that matter -- just taking into consideration what's already occurred during the last two weeks," Gautreaux said.

The bomb threat at LSU came in the wake of similar scares at campuses in other states.
