Another 2,292 Louisianians who were known to have COVID-19 are presumed to have recovered, according to the latest report from the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH).

That brings the total number of people presumed recovered to 22,608.

The state wasn't reporting this number until April 24, and this is the third update since then. It's updated weekly. The first time it rose by 2,376 and the second time it rose by 3,013.

With a reminder that weekends are always a little wonky for reporting, let's look at where we stand as of Monday's LDH report.

The number of known COVID-19 cases in Louisiana is 31,815.

The daily growth rate in the number of known cases has been below 2 percent since the start of May, with the exception of May 1. But that day's spike in the number of new cases was because two labs were reporting all of their data for the first time.

Jefferson Parish has surpassed Orleans Parish in number of cases. There are 6,755 known cases in Jefferson Parish and 6,693 known cases in Orleans Parish. More people have died in Orleans Parish, that the state knows of. There have been 470 reported COVID-19 deaths in Orleans Parish and 402 reported in Jefferson Parish. In East Baton Rouge Parish, 2,398 people have been reported sick and 188 have died.

As of May 4, a little more than 57 percent of the people who have died of COVID-19 across Louisiana were black.

Here's the state's full breakdown of reported deaths by race, ethnicity, gender and underlying conditions:

As of Monday, there are 1,310 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 157 of them are on ventilators. Both numbers have been mostly declining for weeks now.
