Louisiana State Treasurer and former Republican state representative John Schroder reportedly announced earlier this week his plans to seek the office of Governor.

He announced his candidacy just as other political hopefuls have begun campaigning for the Senate seat currently held by Republican John Kennedy. Patrick Madden and Advocate columnist Stephanie Grace break down these candidates and the appeals they’re making to voters.

Also on Louisiana Considered, New Orleans has seen a rise in carjackings over the last few weeks, but District Attorney Jason Williams and the NOPD are in disagreement when it comes to addressing the problem.

NOLA.com’s Matt Sledge tells us more about the potential impacts of this policing dispute.
