Beyoncé's Renaissance tour paid to keep D.C.'s metro running overtime

SARAH MCCAMMON, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Sarah McCammon.

It may cost Beyonce a billion dollars to look that good, but it only cost her 100 K to keep the Washington, D.C., Metro running overtime. Heavy rain and lightning delayed the start of one of the D.C. shows on her Renaissance tour, so she paid to keep 98 D.C. metro stations open an extra hour so fans could get home. In Beyonce's own words, only the radio could play me. The elements don't stand a chance.

It's MORNING EDITION.
