This week on The Reading Life: New Orleans crime novelists Jean Redmann, author of “Not Dead Enough,” her tenth book in the Micky Knight series, and Greg Herren, author of “Royal Street Reveillon,” the eighth in his series featuring detective Scotty Bradley, perfect holiday reading from a writer who loves Christmas in New Orleans.

  • Director of the New Orleans African American Museum Gia Hamilton will lead a discussion with Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Francis Pavy, and Charles Gillam, and Rachel Breunlin, about the creation of Le Kèr Creole exhibit  and the book of the sane name, Tuesday, December 10, at 6 p.m. at the Cabildo, 701 Chartres.
  • Christopher Schaberg discusses and signs “Searching for the Anthropocene: A Journey into the Environmental Humanities,” Tuesday, December 10, at 6 p.m. at Octavia Books.

  • Josephine Sacabo signs “Structures of Reverie” and Richard Sexton signs “Enigmatic Stream” Saturday, December 14 at 5 p.m. at A Gallery for Fine Photography.
  • Danielle Del Sol, Susan Langenhennig, John Pope and Chris Granger sign “Building on the Past: Saving Historic New Orleans” at the Preservation Resource Center& Holiday Home Tour boutique, Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15, from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave.

Before becoming the host of The Reading Life in 2010, Susan Larson was the book editor for The New Orleans Times-Picayune from 1988-2009. She is the vice president for literary programming of the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival, she serves on the board of directors of the New Orleans Public Library, and she is the founder of the New Orleans chapter of the Women's National Book Association. In 2007, she received the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities lifetime achievement award for her contributions to the literary community.
