New Orleans is staying at home for another month.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell confirmed what NOLA.com first reported through court records Wednesday: The stay-at-home order will be extended through May 16.
The proclamation the mayor filed with the Civil District Court today continues the proclamation filed on March 16 prohibiting large gatherings.
The order can be lifted at any time, should circumstances change, a press release from the mayor's office notes.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there are 5,769 known cases of COVID-19 in Orleans Parish and 287 people have died.
Neighboring Jefferson Parish has been hit nearly as hard, with 5,265 known cases and 247 deaths.
There are 21,951 known cases across Louisiana and 1,103 people have died.
On Tuesday, Cantrell said events like New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Essence Festival and French Quarter Festival, should hold off until next year. On Wednesday morning, Essence Fest organizers heeded that advice an canceled their 2020 event, originally rescheduled for the fall.
