Another 90 people have been reported dead of COVID-19 in Louisiana — 24-hour reported death toll second only to yesterday's 129.
Meanwhile, the number of people in hospitals is down for the second day in a row, according to the latest data from the Louisiana Department of Health. There are 1,943 people hospitalized with COVID-19, down 34 from yesterday. Of those people, 425 are on ventilators. That's 11 fewer people than yesterday.
The total count of known COVID-19 cases in the state is at 21,951, up by 433 from yesterday.
There are 5,769 known cases of COVID-19 in Orleans Parish and 287 people have died there. In Jefferson Parish, there are 5,265 known cases and 247 people have died. In East Baton Rouge Parish, 1,325 people are known to be sick and 62 have died.
Jefferson Parish has, both steadily and in bursts, gotten closer and closer to the total case count and death toll in Orleans Parish.
In LDH Region 1 — which includes Orleans and Jefferson parishes, as well as St. Bernard and Plaquemines — 493 ICU beds are occupied and 209 are available. There are 243 ventilators in use and 456 available.
