Gov. John Bel Edwards has a press conference scheduled for 2:30 this afternoon. He is expected to announce whether the state is ready to move into the third phase of reopening.

The last time he addressed the public, the outlook was not good. Cases and hospitalizations were trending upward several regions of the state—mostly from community spread.

Since then state health officials have identified a series of clusters tied to so-called “super-spreader events.”

Friday afternoon, The Louisiana Department of Health said at least 100 people tested positive for COVID-19 after going to bars in Tigerland near LSU. The Department said that anyone who went there last week should consider themselves exposed and self-quarantine.

In New Orleans, city Health Director Jennifer Avegno said about 30 people came down sick after attending a graduation party.

Meanwhile, changes in the way LDH counts cases have made it difficult to track overall growth in recent days.
