A member of Gov. John Bel Edwards’ staff is in self-isolation after testing positive for the COVID-19, according to a news release issued by the governor.

Two additional staff members who were said to have had close contact with the individual are in quarantine. The staffer who tested positive did not have “close contact” with Gov. Edwards.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define “close contact” as being within 6 feet of an infected individual for more than 15 minutes.

In July, a member of Edwards’ press office tested positive for COVID-19, prompting 12 other staffers to quarantine for 14 days.

No additional information is known at this time. Check back for updates.
