The Louisiana Department of Health has revoked the food permit for Firehouse BBQ in Watson for failure to comply with Gov. John Bel Edwards’ statewide mask mandate. It's the first punitive action the state has taken against a restaurant for failure to comply with Edwards’ coronavirus regulations.

But the restaurant remains open in defiance of the state’s sanctions.

The executive order keeping Louisiana in Phase 2 of reopening from the coronavirus is set to expire at the end of next week. But Gov. John Bel Edwards said Thursday that Louisianans shouldn’t expect any big changes.

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Tuesday that Phase 2 of coronavirus restrictions will remain in place through at least August 7. 

New Orleans now has a mask task force — a mask force, if you will.

Gov. John Bel Edwards is raising concerns over the recent increase in coronavirus hospitalizations and community spread just days before he’s set to make a decision about a possible third phase of reopening.

It’s been two weeks since Louisiana began Phase 2 of slowly reopening the state, and public health officials are seeing worrying trends.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell said New Orleans will move to Phase 2 of reopening on June 13.

As more and more states are loosening social distancing measures put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Monday that the state will enter the second phase of reopening on Friday.
