Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to meet with Gov. John Bel Edwards and higher education leaders in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, according to a report from WBRZ.
Pence will first meet with Edwards and Louisiana Department of Health officials to discuss the state's response to the coronavirus, then he'll take part in a roundtable discussion with Edwards and education leaders at Louisiana State University's Tiger Stadium. They will focus on plans for bringing students back to campus and resuming college sports this fall.
The vice president will end his visit with a joint press confernce with Edwards at Tiger Stadium.
News of the visit comes one day after the Big Ten Conference announced that it will cancel all nonconference games for fall sports, including football. The Big Ten is the first of the Power Five conferences to trim down its schedule. The Southeastern Conference has not yet released a plan to bring college sports back this fall, but many SEC football programs, including LSU's, have already begun summer workouts.

On Tuesday, July 14th, Vice President Pence will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There, the Vice President will meet with Governor Edwards and his health care team on their efforts to combat COVID-19. Afterward, the Vice President will participate in a roundtable discussion at LSU’s Tiger Stadium with Governor Edwards and higher education leaders focusing on fall reopening plans and university sports programs. Following, the Vice President will host a press briefing with Governor Edwards. Later that evening, the Vice President will return to Washington, D.C.
