Fall is the time to plan your landscapes

Dan Gill

November thru February is the prime planting season for hearty trees, shrubs, ground covers, and vines in Louisiana.

So now is a time to assess your landscaping situation and make plans for what you might want to do.

Landscaping is a great way to give your home a beautiful appearance and to make outdoor spaces functional for your family.

Designing an overall landscape, including drainage, traffic patterns, use areas, living areas, and plantings requires careful study and planning... but it's not necessarily beyond the ability of the home gardener.

He is the spokesperson for the LSU AgCenter’s "Get It Growing project," an effort encouraging home horticulture throughout Louisiana. Dan is also author of "Month-by-Month Gardening in Louisiana" and co-author of the "Louisiana Gardener’s Guide."
