Early Voting at Record Level
By Lisa Lovello
Over 340,000 people voted early ahead of the Nov. 6 election. That’s about 12 percent of Louisiana’s 2.9 million registered voters. By comparison, during the last presidential election, a little more than 290,000 voters cast early ballots.
Priscilla Arceneaux, with the parish Registrar’s Office says all kinds of people turned out to vote early in East Baton Rouge.
“It was just everything, you know: men, women, young, old, black, white, of course, and, I mean, even the Hispanic, the Asian. It was everybody that was getting out and voting," Arceneaux said.
Early voting and absentee ballots are tallied on Election Day.
