LSU's star cornerback Patrick Peterson has decided to enter the NFL draft.

That's according to a person familiar with the decision who spoke on condition of anonymity. Peterson did not expect to announce his plans until Monday.

LSU has scheduled a media conference for Peterson, but the university is not discussing the player's intentions beforehand. The 6"1', 222 lbs. junior is widely projected to be a first-round pick.

Peterson has also handled kickoff and punt returns, routinely covered opponents' top receivers one-on-one. He had four interceptions and returned two punts for touchdowns.
