Council Votes to Sue Parish President Over Checks
    AP
    January 27, 2012
    Baton Rouge, LA

The Livingston Parish Council has voted to file suit over the parish president for issuing checks that were co-signed by an interim financial director who was not approved by the council.

Issuing the checks in such a manner violates the parish's Home Rule Charter.

The motion covers all checks issued by the administration since January 9, when Layton Ricks took over as parish president.

The check that raised the ire of the council was for $453,000 paid to an engineering firm for road planning work.
