The Army Corps of Engineers says damage from last year's record spring floods could leave many people along the Mississippi River in even more danger this year. The Corps says it is assessing the damage and will begin notifying affected communities in February.Congress gave the Corps $802 million in December to fix levees up and down the river.
Corps spokesman Bob Anderson, in Vicksburg, said on Thursday that identifying the weakest points and letting people know where they are is part of that.
The corps said it's also looking at ways to reduce risks before full repairs can be completed.
